How To: Store Your Cycle Light Batteries

We're often asked: "How to store your cycle light batteries?"

Keeping summer in mind, with longer days and shorter nights, you don't always need your cycle light for early morning training. Although it's great for keeping safety in mind and staying visible.

Our Cycle Light Batteries are Lithium-Ion and must be stored in a charged state, ideally between 50% and fully charged. This prevents the battery from dropping below 2.50V/cell, which will trigger sleep mode.

It is much better to store your battery fully charged than completely discharged.

  • Never leave the battery and light connected when storing, as this can put a slow drain on the battery, resulting in battery damage and shortened lifespan.
  • Store in a cool and dry place.  Excessive heat will shorten the battery’s lifespan.
  • Avoid freezing. Batteries freeze more easily if kept in discharged state – not that this should happen too easily in our summers.

Your battery does not mind being charged often.  It will not harm your battery.

Remember that Lithium Ion batteries age, whether they are being used frequently or not.  If you take care of your battery, it should last you three years.

Taking the above into account, we trust that you will now know how to store your cycle light batteries and to get maximum life from them.

Is your battery kaput?
