2015 Cycle Light X range

In our effort to stay on the cutting edge of technology Extreme Lights has been working hard in developing our 2015 range.  Here are a few of the models that you might see released in the not too distant future.

The next generation Extreme X range will be equiped with the New Cree XP-L V5 LEDs.

The XLamp® XP-L LED is the first commercially available single-die LED to deliver breakthrough efficacy of up to 200 lm/w at 350 mA. The game-changing Cree® XLamp XP-L LED delivers an immediate performance increase of 50% or more as a drop-in upgrade for lighting designs based on Cree’s market-leading XLamp XP-G LEDs.  As the brightest member of the industry’s only family of high-density-class discrete LEDs, the new XP-L LED redefines system performance. Although the XP-L is only 2.5% - 5.7% more efficient than the XM-L2 which is currently used in our K-range its overall size is less than half.  This equates to smaller optical elements which in turns results in a more compact light unit.  Both being 10W LEDs means no compromise on performance, but a massive reduction in size.

Redesigned clamp system.

The o-ring mount system works well for 90% of the users and will be available on our lights in the future but for the 10% which needs there lights to stay regardless of terrain, we have good news. We have been taking a good hard look at possible options. One of the leading contenders is an all aluminium clamp.  You will seem them in the rendering below.

Optics rethink.

One of the major changes from our current line up to the X range is in the choice of using Lens over reflectors. We have sourced the best lenses  from Ledil, which is a leader in their field. The smaller XP footprint opens up an array of smaller and high efficient optics which was not possible with the XM foot print. This allows for more compact designs which was not possible with any reflector based system.

Extreme X7

The light is equipped with no less than Hepta XP-L V5 LEDs all driven at 1/3 there maximum power. This provide a perfect balance between heat and performance.  Notably the largest improvement will be the X7 over the 3K.  Dramatically reducing the size and improving the clamp system.  Even though there will be performances gains it would be difficult to observe in real life.

At this time it is not clear what the exact date of release will be.  Expect to see them released in the second quarter of 2015 production starts.  Specification are estimations based on theoretical conditions and my vary at production.
