Features and benefits:
  • Increased life span (10 x longer than lead acid). Load shedding does not destroy these batteries and you can expect a 5+ year life span from them.
  • Direct replacement for 12V 7Ah Lead Acid. This battery is exactly the same size and dimensions as standard gate and alarm batteries. Compatible with existing chargers and machines.
  • Ideal for use in:
    • Gate motors backup battery like ET Nice and Centurion
    • Home and business Alarm system battery backup
    • Access Control Gates backup battery
    • Electric Fences backup battery
    • CCTV backup battery

This is a very reliable lithium gate battery. 12v 7Ah sealed lead-acid (SLA) batteries are typically installed in small electronics that require backup power, like alarm systems and gate motors, but they are not ideal for regularly handling high current, and being discharged often or discharged too low. Thus when they are frequently drained (like during load shedding), they are easily damaged, and you will find that you need to replace them quite often.

This lithium iron phosphate battery on the other hand has a high cycle rate (2000 cycles, versus 200 to 400 cycles of an SLA battery), it can handle higher current, and the internal battery management system protects the battery from overcharging or discharging too low.

That simply means this lithium battery replacement should last 10 times longer than the typical SLA battery it is replacing.

Other advantages are that there are no fumes, the self-discharge rate is less than 3.5% per month (SLA will drain itself dead in 12 months), the batteries weight 700g vs the 2kg average weight of a 12v 7Ah SLA battery, and they can be charged and discharged faster (at higher current).

This battery can directly replace a sealed lead acid 12v 7Ah battery (same size, same charging voltages) and is an upgrade in terms of how many cycles the battery can do (how many time can be used before needs replacing).

Please note that while this is technically a 12v 6Ah battery, it performs like a 12v 7Ah lead acid battery in most applications since it is able to consistently deliver its full available capacity, whereas the lead acid 12v 7Ah battery will degrade rapidly in capacity as it ages, or when under high load.

TIP : To calculate how long this battery can last in your application, lookup the load power of the device it will be powering in Watts, then divide 75W with that number. Example, a 12v alarm system drawing 1A load, has a 12W (12v x 1A = 12W) load, so it can run from this battery for 6hrs 15min (75 / 12 = 6.25).

NOTE : If you require extra capacity and want to upgrade to a long life lithium battery, then also see our 12V 12Ah Alarm / Gate Lithium Battery (12V 7Ah High Capacity Upgrade) product listing.

UPS NOTE : Only use this battery inside a UPS if the UPS low voltage disconnect can be set to 12v, or if you are sure the UPS will last longer than loadshedding. Otherwise if the UPS is run until it stops working (battery voltage too low and BMS low voltage protection triggered) then the UPS will not turn on when the power comes on. The battery BMS needs a charge to wake up and UPS won't turn on and charge it without battery being detected.

Questions & Answers

Ask a Question
  • Possible to replace a mercer ups battery, lead acid, with this lithium battery?

These batteries are mainly for Alarm and Gate Motor replacement batteries and they are not compatible with a UPS.

  • I know you suggest this is a direct replacement for electric fence batteries at 12V 7AH...my battery is a 12V 7.2AH, will this work? I ask because the battery fits very tightly into the electric fence energizer.

Yes they will work and it will fit into the housing as it is the same form factor as the 7Ah

  • Will this battery work inside a ups as they also user 12v 7ah batteries

These will not work but we have UPS specific batteries for 12V UPS units and 24V UPS units.

Please see the two links below:

    12V 6Ah UPS Lithium Battery

    24V 12Ah UPS Lithium Battery

  • How long does it take to charge considering the frequency of load shedding? Can it be powered directly from the alarm PSU?

Yes it can be run directly from your alarm system.
The battery can charge from 0% - 100% in one hour.
However, the speed of charge is dependant on the specification of the charger.
Generally, chargers either charge at 1A, meaning 6 hours charge time, or
5A, meaning 1.15 hours of charging.
