The team at SA4X4 had our 70W Night Raider spots for a review, here is what they had to say.
Are your factory fitted headlights not bright enough for those dark Karoo nights or when you’re out on adventure off the beaten track? The Night Raider spotlights from Extreme Lights solve this problem completely.
Designed to be powerful, reliable, compact and affordable, the 70W Night Raiders have a beam pattern of only 7 degrees, resulting in a beam distance of 400m. At the same time, it has plenty of side spill which lights up the side of the road to illuminate pedestrians and animals. The Night Raiders are also E-1 certified, ensuring they comply fully with European certifications.
Because an LED bulb uses about 10% of the power that your old incandescent spots used, the Night Raider spotlights use only 70 Watts compared to the 700 Watts used by normal incandescent lights with similar output. With both Night Raider spotlights burning and the engine off, you won’t have to worry about your car battery going flat for hours. This is particularly handy for camping or usage in the outdoors when you need that extra light.
The Night Raider spotlights will run on anything from 10 to 30 volts, pulling just 6 Amps at 12 Volts. This results in minimal stress on your alternator and battery. They are supplied without a relay wiring kit. However, a 12-month warranty is standard, and at almost half the price of some well-known competitors, they are a bargain.
Have a look at our test of the Night Raider spotlights in the video below to get an idea of how effective these spotlights really are.
We decided to take a set of Night Raiders out for a test on a very dark winter’s night and they performed admirably. Watch the video below to see for yourself just how powerful these lights are.
In the video below, the Night Raider spotlights get put through their paces with various “torture tests”. Have you ever seen a spotlight frozen in a block of ice? Click on the video below and enjoy the torture tests by Extreme Lights.
Each spot contains seven 7 LEDs, each enhanced by individual deep reflectors which maximise beam distance with a narrow seven degree spread. They work best as a long-range beam while your vehicle’s standard headlights fill in the gaps at closer range. Research shows the human eye responds well to LED lighting. Because of its cool, intense glow above 5 000 degrees kelvin (a similar colour temperature to natural midday light) the human eye experiences less fatigue when compared to the yellow hue of an incandescent bulb. This means tiredness is reduced when driving for extended periods. Oncoming road users will also experience reduced glare with LEDs when compared to a similarly bright HID or incandescent light. That said, the Night Raider spotlights are perfect for all your outdoor, 4×4 and adventure needs.
The Night Raider spotlights from Extreme Lights vastly increase visibility at night and are a must-have for all 4x4s and touring vehicles. They offer excellent added lighting in the bush, when it’s most needed.
